About the Artist
I grew up on a sweet little homestead, down a gravel road, in rural Missouri. Spending most of my childhood running around barefoot in fields and climbing trees has blessed me with a uniquely close relationship to nature. When I was not adventuring outside, I was pestering my mom for more supplies for my next big project (or playing with my excessive amount of toy horses). Thankfully, my mom, being an extraordinary artist herself, always has some old art supplies in a closet somewhere for me to utilize.
I've worked on many farms in my life and feel the most myself when I am spending the majority of my time being a steward of the land. Supporting local farmers and the progression of sustainable food systems are my highest interest when I am not channeling my energy into art. As society grows more and more distant from the peace, vibrancy, and interconnection that nature has to offer, I worry that we have settled too much indoors -becoming anxious, isolated, and dependent on corrupt systems.
As an artist, my goal is to help my audience feel a spark of imagination using the eyes of their inner child; eyes that can truly see the enchanting wonders of nature and the realm of fantasy.
Currently, I live in the DMV area with my husband, Bakari--my muse. My love. My greatest inspiration of all. He and so many of my friends and family have been nothing but supportive and encouraging to me in my journey of taking my career as a fine artist to the next level.
